About
Carmen’s degree is in computer science and master’s in education. Her childhood desire was to help children excel at a high level in a competitive world. In 2010 the visionary founded Dynamic Learning Center for Tomorrows Leaders, a Christian-based after-school program for gifted children. She designed a curriculum in which science, art, music, chess, and French are integrated with Bible knowledge.
She has served in various ministries in her local church. Overseas she had the honor to be a guest speaker to women’s groups and a leader in children’s programs. Her passion for teaching for a deeper walk with God has expanded into the literary arena with her first book “The Shaping of a Diamond.“ Her goal is to write a series of books that will serve as a foundational must-read for believers and their children.
Reflections on what shaped my walk with our Lord Jesus Christ
It is a humbling thought that I did write a book and I am hoping to write a few more. I am not nearly anywhere in the league of great authors.
I am so blessed that I have accomplished this. Nonetheless, if I am stranded on an island, the one book I would choose to have with me is the Word of God, the Bible. And if I cannot have it in its entirety, I would at least settle for the Psalms and the gospel of Matthew. These two books of the Bible would be a great companion for me besides the Holy Spirit living in me.
The precious Holy Spirit has been by my side all along. Many times I was not aware of His presence and His actions behind the scenes. I started to see His fingerprints throughout my life as my spiritual sight and hearing grew in recognizing Him. The Lord used many things to shape and mold me into who I am today. Here is a list of those things He used: people, biographies of great men and women of God, disasters, disappointments, victories, and challenges.
One companion book besides the Bible that has been with me all through my journey is my favorite devotional:
My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers.
There are so many profound revelations, encouragements, and corrections this classic little book has given me. But the following I have used over and over again:
“It is not a question of giving up sin, but of giving up my right to myself, my natural independence and self-assertiveness, and this is where the battle has to be fought. It is the things that are right and noble and good from the natural standpoint that keep us from God’s best.” (December 9)
“The great enemy of the life of faith in God is not sin, but the good which is not good enough. The good is always the enemy of the best.” (May 25)
“Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the One Who is leading. It is a life of faith, not of intelligence and reason, but a life of knowing who is making me “go.” (March 19)
My journey is not over. Neither is my shaping and my molding. I am looking forward to the challenges, ventures, intimacies, and all that my Lord has in store for me. Blessed be His Holy Name!
In His Service,
Carmen Zica
